Inter-Ed was formed in 1980 by Ms. Elena Aromin Umali (now Bartholomew) as an office to help, advise and place students from the Philippines into overseas Colleges and Universities. Mr. Roger Bartholomew joined the organization in 1983, and Inter-Ed is the second oldest educational placement in Asia. Originally representing institutions in Switzerland and the USA, Inter-Ed soon came to place students in a number of other countries, including England, France, Germany and Spain.
1985 marked the 1000th student placed, and Inter-Ed became a distribution center for the TOEFL and GMAT Bulletins. The next two years saw students moving into institutions in the United Kingdom and Australia, and the 1st Educational Fair in Manila was hosted by Inter-Ed in 1988. Soon New Zealand and Singapore were added to the list of student locations as the 2000th student was placed in 1991, followed by the first Philippine student to ever be accepted for Medicine in the United Kingdom at Nottingham University.
In 1997, Inter-Ed founded Southville Foreign Colleges with Dr. Genevive Ledesma-Tan, an international college offering overseas universities’ programs in Business, Computer Graphics & IT and Hotel Management. In 1999, the 3000th student was placed, and in 2001, the first students from the Philippines were accepted into a Bachelors Degree in the London School of Economics. 2004 saw the founding of FuturePerfect Business English Specialists, the foremost English Language training company in the Philippines specializing in English workplace training for the Call Center & BPO industry. This year, 2007, they are hosting the 19th Career and Guidance Fair for Junior High School students in hopes of familiarizing them with the many University options they have here and abroad.
